Kenya - First safari after 17 months!!

It had been a long time since I last saw the bush, 17 horribly long months!

As soon as we were allowed to travel again and I was fully vaccinated I asked my dear friend Geraldine, owner of Morelli Travel and Rare Encounters to organize a dream safari in Kenya for me. How lucky to have a safari specialist as friend!

Beginning of August I was finally on my way from Brussels, via Dubai, to Kenya. Very early arrival, around 6 a.m. in Nairobi. Here the airport guys totally messed up all the luggage! Every suitcase of our plane seemed discarded just everywhere in the hall. Except mine - it was the last one finally coming out of the guts of the storage hall - and the only one still travelling on the conveyor belt! Big relief on my side and I quickly headed to the exit. The entry procedure in Covid times was quite time-consuming. I can't remember how often I had to show my test certificate and the requested QR-codes!! But very often!

When I finally got out of the airport my driver-guide for two weeks, Bonaya, was already waiting for me.

We straight away left Nairobi and took the Nairobi-Mombasa highway to Tsavo East National Park.
